Our membership types reflect the diversity of the counseling workforce, offering pathways for every stage of the professional journey.
CASAC Membership Types
Regular Member: Credentialed CASAC in Good Standing
Regular Members represent the heart of the Association. To qualify, you must be a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing with OASAS. Regular Members hold voting rights, giving you a direct voice in shaping policies, electing leaders, and guiding the direction of the Association. Membership ensures you are recognized as a key stakeholder in advancing CASAC professional standards. Regular Members gain access to advocacy initiatives, approved training opportunities, and professional resources tailored to their needs. This type of membership is ideal for those who want to influence statewide policy while continuing to build their careers in the field of substance use counseling.
Associate Member: Allied Professionals Supporting CASACs
Associate Membership is designed for allied professionals who may not hold the CASAC credential but share the mission of elevating addiction counseling in New York. Social workers, mental health counselors, peer advocates, educators, and administrators all bring valuable expertise to the field. As an Associate Member, you will benefit from access to Association resources, networking opportunities, and participation in committees. While Associate Members do not hold voting rights, they are essential collaborators in advocacy, training, and professional development. This membership type ensures that the Association remains inclusive and connected to the wider behavioral health system, where CASACs and allied professionals work side by side.
Student Member: Future CASAC Professionals in Training
Student Membership is tailored for those currently enrolled in an OASAS-approved 350-hour CASAC training program. Becoming a Student Member gives you early access to the tools, networks, and mentorship opportunities that will guide your journey toward certification. Student Members are encouraged to participate in events, access the job and internship listings, and join professional development workshops. While Student Members do not hold voting rights, their presence ensures the Association continues to invest in the future of the profession. This membership type helps students build a strong foundation for success and transition smoothly into Regular Membership once credentialed.
Dues and Payments
Membership dues are an investment in your professional growth and in the advancement of the CASAC profession across New York. We recognize that counselors, students, and allied professionals may have different financial circumstances, which is why we provide flexible payment options for all membership types.
Annual or Monthly Dues
Members may choose between annual payments or a convenient monthly plan. Regular Members, Associate Members, and Student Members all have dues structured to reflect their level of involvement and stage in the profession. Annual dues allow members to make a one-time payment each year, while the monthly option offers an affordable way to stay engaged without financial strain. By offering this flexibility, the Association ensures that CASAC professionals and supporters at every stage can access the benefits of membership without barriers.
